On Sunday, July 13, 2025, the head of the Mansoura Court of Appeal, to consider the first appeal sessions submitted by the accused, Rahma Mahmoud Al -Sayed Ahmed, on the ruling against her to death by hanging, for accusing her of killing the young Lamis Muhammad Al -Sayyad, 4 years old, in the village of Bassandila of the Belqas Center in Dakahlia Governorate.

The Mansoura Criminal Court had issued its death sentence last April, after the Mufti’s virtue of the referral decision was approved to condemn the accused of killing the girl with the aim of stealing her golden earnings, and hiding her body inside the balcony of an abandoned house adjacent to their housing.
The events of the incident dates back to December 2023, when the girl was absent from her family’s home, to be found later a dead body, and investigations revealed that the accused – the girl’s uncle’s wife – lured her into her house, strangled her using a cloth, then seized her golden earning and hid her body.
The defendant admitted to the investigation authorities to commit the crime, and the forensic report came to match what was stated in the investigations, and it was referred to the urgent trial, until the death sentence was issued.
