Counselor Mohamed Al -Homsani, a spokesman for the Council of Ministers, said that the Ministry of Petroleum has contracted early on the supply of three gas ships to secure the state’s energy needs during the summer months, pointing to one of them already arrived and linking them to the national network.

He added during televised comments, that the second ship will be linked by June 27, to be followed by the third ship in the first week of next July.
He pointed out that linking the three ships will provide the capacity of gas in the national network to 2250 million cubic feet per day, which is more than twice the amount of gas last summer, which amounted to 1,000 million cubic feet.
He explained that the Ministry of Petroleum was forced to activate an emergency plan that includes temporary pieces of natural gas supplies for some industrial sectors mainly the fertilizer factories until the three ships will be linked to the ministry to pump gas to all sectors.
He continued: Unfortunately, we have forced this procedure temporarily in order to achieve the first priority and implement the directives of the political leadership to completely avoid the influence of gas supplies to power stations in the interest of the citizens.
He concluded by saying: The state seeks to avoid a scenario of lowering loads, but of course with the current developments on the ground in the region if we have to do it; But, God willing, we will not have to him and we will avoid this scenario.
