European stocks are closed low after reaching an initial agreement between America and China

According to Reuters, the European Index Stoxx 600 rose at the beginning of the session, supported by American inflation data that came without expectations, eased concerns about customs duties and enhanced hopes of a possible reduction in interest rates by the Federal Reserve. However, the positive momentum did not withstand long, to close the index by 0.3%, recording its losses for the third day in a row, and remains at the lowest of 2% of its historical peak recorded last February.

The US President is reaching an agreement with China

In a prominent development, US President Donald Trump announced the arrival of an agreement with China that includes Beijing’s supply of magnetic materials and rare ground minerals to the United States. According to an official at the White House, the agreement allows the imposition of customs duties by up to 55% on Chinese goods, distributed between 10% basic fees, and another by 20% linked to the smuggling of fentanel, along with previous fees by 25%. For its part, China will respond to the imposition of 10% customs duties on American imports.

Despite this agreement, the reaction of European investors remained cautious, as analysts saw that the markets were hoping to make tangible progress more than a temporary calm.

On the level of the sectors, the shares of the utilities sector recorded the best performance during the session, while the shares of retail companies led to decline, affected by the decline in the “Inditx” share of the “Zara” brand by 4.4%, after announcing sales without expectations during the first quarter.

As for the British market, the shares of the Billway and Vester house, “Billi” and “Westtari”, after the Minister of Finance announced a 39 billion pounds of housing plan for 39 billion pounds extending for ten years, which may double the annual spending on low -cost housing.

At the conclusion of the trading, the British Fennishal Times index rose by 100 by 0.1%, while the Financial Times index increased 250 for medium companies by 0.2%.
