The Ministry of Health and Population announced the provision of hearing examination services for 7 million, 909 thousand and 570 children, as part of the President’s initiative for early detection and treatment of hearing impairment in newborns, since its inception in September 2019.
Increasing the number of centers for audio detection for children to 3,500 health units in all governorates of the Republic
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, pointed out that the number of hospitals and hearing referral centers increased to 34 instead of 30 centers, in all governorates of the Republic, and to provide them with the latest medical devices and supplies, to provide hearing initiative services.
“Abdel Ghaffar” pointed out that 426 thousand and 700 children of the total children who were examined for re -examination were converted by a week after the first examination, and in the same unit that were examined, 53 thousand and 917 children were transferred, after the second test to hospitals and referral centers with the aim of assessing the condition with higher accuracy, starting treatment or installing an earphone, or transferring the child to perform the cochlear transplant for whom He calls his condition.
He said that the initiative comes within the framework of the expansion of comprehensive health coverage, and the obtaining of children with quality health care, by following the latest methods of treatment, which is reflected in providing a healthy life safe for newborn children, up to the target of the initiatives of President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi, under the slogan “100 million health” and in line with the vision of “Egypt 2030”.
“Abdel Ghaffar” noted the increase in the number of hearing detection centers for children starting from the day of birth until the age of 28 days, to 3,500 health units in all governorates of the Republic, explaining that the child’s failure to pass the second test does not mean hearing impairment, but it is indicated that the child needs advanced checks in the initiative referral centers.
Dr. Mohi El -Sayed, the general coordinator of the initiative, stressed that the early detection of hearing impairment avoids the child’s hearing disability and facilitates the opportunities for treatment, in addition to avoiding communication problems that can cause psychological crises for the child.
He continued that nursing sets were trained to work on the sound emission device in health units, in addition to training the data entrances of the health units, in all governorates of the Republic, to register children’s data from newborns on the initiative’s website, with the aim of creating a full file for the child that includes his health condition, in addition to inserting a field of auditory examination in birth certificates.
The general coordinator of the initiative noted that the ministry receives citizens ’inquiries regarding the initiative of President Abdel Fattah Al -Sisi, for early detection and the treatment of weakness and hearing loss in newborns, on the hotline 15335 for“ 100 million health ”initiatives.
