Investigations in case No. 2463 of 2024, the administrative administrator, revealed one of the most dangerous networks of smuggling illegal immigrants, which are involved in the travel of Egyptian youth to Libya and from there to European countries, in exchange for huge sums of money amounting to 250 thousand pounds per person.

Investigations added that the criminal formation was working with a tight organization, and it takes a major center in Alexandria to manage its illegal activity, and its members depend on attracting young people wishing to travel, claiming to provide job opportunities abroad, taking advantage of their need to improve their living conditions.
Investigations indicated that the network consists of several elements, they were identified and investigated, namely: “AA”, “AAM”, “M.M.”, “AMM”, “RM”, “SAA”, “AAM”, “A.A.”, “A.A.” And “AAM” and “M.H.”, where each of them took a role within the group between collecting migrants, securing their transfer, collecting money, and coordinating with smugglers across the Libyan border.
Investigations indicated that the group was transporting migrants through desert roads into Libyan territory, in coordination with brokers on the border, in preparation for their travel to the Italian coast, amid dangerous circumstances and an unknown fate.
Investigations added that the security authorities accurately monitored the network movements, and were able to arrest the defendants after the issuance of permission from the Public Prosecution, which began investigations and ordered that they be imprisoned in custody pending the case.
The investigation authorities confirmed that the facts attributed to the accused represent the crime of “smuggling migrants from an organized criminal group, which is one of the crimes stipulated in Law No. 82 of 2016 regarding the fight against illegal immigration and the smuggling of migrants, whose sentences reach a strict prison and major financial fines.
