The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the Syrian authorities released more than 300 detainees from several prisons throughout the country, coinciding with the blessed Eid Al -Adha, in a move that included detainees on various backgrounds, including former officers.
Hama Central Prison was among the most prominent centers included in the release, where 96 detainees were released at once, distributed geographically as follows: 30 from Lattakia Governorate, 17 from Tartous, and 20 of Hama and its countryside, while the rest were distributed to other Syrian provinces, according to the observatory.
The observatory explained that this step came after field visits by the Public Prosecution for a number of prisons, with the aim of reviewing the files of the detainees, especially those who have exceeded the period of their arrest, the legal limits without trial.
The Observatory welcomed this step, stressing the need for efforts to continue to address the conditions of the detainees and achieve justice, again calling for respecting the legal and humanitarian standards inside the Syrian prisons, and the release of all those who have not been shown to be convicted before the judiciary.
