Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab said today, Wednesday, that Syria managed to eliminate the drug industry, but its smuggling is still a security challenge.
In an interview with the official “Al -Ikhbariya” channel, Khattab confirmed that security is controlling daily drug shipments intended for export, stressing that there is no longer any factory that produces the Captagon in Syria.
He pointed out that Syria occupied the lead in the production of the Captagon at the time of the Bashar al -Assad regime, but since its overthrow and work is underway to end this.
Khattab explained that since the first day in the new government, a campaign to liberate the Captagon laboratories began, and has closed dozens of them.
He stressed that there is cooperation with Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey in the war on the Captagon trade, noting that work in the next stage will be to treat drug users and open clinics to treat addiction.
