The Association of Authors and Composers headed by the scriptwriter Medhat El -Adl issued a statement announcing that it was submitted by the public prosecutor against Mahmoud Al -Laithi, because of the use of the song “Ya Masharni” by Sayed Makkawi and the poet Ahmed Rami.

What the association is doing is sound and legal, and it has the right to take this measure.

The Association of Egyptian authors, composers and publishers previously announced that it had begun to take legal measures against the popular singer Mahmoud Al -Leithi, on charges of infringement of intellectual property rights in the song Ya Masharni, one of the most prominent works of the great musician Sayed Makkawi, and the words of the late poet Ahmed Rami.
The association confirmed, in an official statement issued today, Monday, that the association’s legal advisor, Dr. Hossam Lotfi, submitted a report to the Attorney General under the number of the petition 1235328, in which Al -Leithi is accused of using the original work without an official permit, and to moderate it into content that lacks aesthetic values - as described by the statement – in his new song in what the role of Al -Muzaffid lives.
The association explained that this behavior represents an explicit violation of the Egyptian and Arab artistic heritage, stressing that it will not tolerate all legal measures to protect the rights of its members, and preserve the musical and cultural heritage of the nation.
The association’s statement added that the use of a song in size, Masharni, without prior approval from the rights holders, affects one of the most prominent symbols of the Arab ritual, and represents an abuse of the artistic work itself, stressing that it calls on all artists and producers to respect the rights of intellectual property, and refrain from any preparation for the authentic artistic heritage.
It is noteworthy that the song Ya Masharani, which was sung by Kawkab Al Sharq, Umm Kulthum, is one of the most wonderful works of classic Arab music, and represents an integral part of the cultural and artistic identity of Egypt and the Arab world.
