Engineer Assem Abdel -Latif Abdullah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Affairs at the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, confirmed the Kingdom’s import of about 30,630 heads of sheep, 91 heads of cows, and 34 heads of camels, in the context of preparations for the blessed Eid Al -Adha season, indicating that 17,000 additional heads are expected during the coming days to meet the demand for sacrifices.
He added that 1,541 tons of refrigerated and frozen red meat, and 5,299 tons of frozen poultry meat, were imported, in addition to issuing 228 licenses to import red meat and poultry meat, in preparation for the sacrifice season and Eid Al -Adha.
Al -Wakeel affirmed the ministry’s full readiness for the Eid al -Adha season 1446 AH, through an integrated plan to cover the places of slaughtering the licensed sacrifices, and to provide veterinarians to examine the sacrifices in coordination with the licensed slaughterhouses to facilitate and accelerate the examination operations.
Engineer Assem Abdel -Latif explained that agriculture and livestock affairs pay the safety of meat of all kinds with great attention, as samples are withdrawn from all live, refrigerated and frozen imports, and are examined in laboratories to ensure the safety of livestock and meat.
Al -Wakeel pointed out that the slaughterhouse and the slaughterhouse of the Bahrain livestock company in a jacket of slaughterhouses licensed by agriculture and livestock affairs, and the slaughtering operations are under the supervision of veterinarians with experience and licenses, confirming the presence of health and veterinary supervision of the slaughterhouses and slaughter operations, where the sacrifices are revealed before and after the slaughter, and the meat directed to the market is concluded in normal days or upon request In seasons.
And the Undersecretary of Agriculture and Livestock Affairs stated that about 25 doctors and veterinarians work 24 hours a day in various ports “Khalifa Bin Salman Port, Bahrain International Airport, and King Fahd Bridge” to monitor import and export operations for live animals and animal products, including livestock and red and white meat, whether they are refrigerated or frozen, in addition to the veterinary supervision process inside the veterinary quarry on sheep and livestock And meat imported from abroad, stressing that there is continuous coordination and cooperation with qualified imported merchants who apply the requirements and in accordance with laws and requirements according to the Veterinary Stone Law No. (8) of 2003 and Executive Regulations No. (7) of 2004, stressing that the ministry puts the safety of living animals and meat at the top of their priorities.
The agent attributed the great demand from merchants to import livestock and meat to diversify the sources of imports for livestock and meat from several countries in the world, and licensing for traders qualified to import livestock and meat.
