There have been news among the Syrians during the past few days, stating that the construction of a skyscraper in the name of US President Donald Trump in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

On Wednesday, May 21, accounts on Facebook circulated a claim claiming that “Nixos International” signed a contract to create the “Levant 1” tower in Damascus, which will be the longest skyscraper in the world, with a height of 1050 meters, exceeding the “Burj Khalifa”, at a cost of 8.5 billion dollars, with funding from Syrian, Arab and foreign investors.
However, the first claim is really true, as the “Tiger” real estate group confirmed that it actually intends to launch the Trump Tower project in Damascus, according to the “Guardian” newspaper.
But the second claim is wrong, as the “Make” platform team conducted a research, and explained that the research did not result in the use of keywords in both Arabic and English for any results that support its health.
Also, no company in the name of “Nixos” has announced the signing of a contract to build a skyscraper in Damascus, and no official statement was issued by government agencies confirming the signing of a contract with a company called “Nixos” to establish a project called “Sham 1” in the Syrian capital.
As for the Trump Tower, the group’s president, Walid Al -Zoubi, said that the tower will be consisting of 45 floors at a possible cost of $ 200 million.
He added that his company will launch the Trump Tower project, Damascus, as a symbol of peace and a message that Syria deserves a better future, according to his words.
It is noteworthy that Syria has been subject to US sanctions since 1979, and was exacerbated after the campaign of repression launched by the then Syrian President Bashar al -Assad, on peaceful demonstrators in 2011.
Although the military factions were overthrown in Assad in December, the United States kept the sanctions imposed on the country.
But the American President announced from the capital Riyadh, last week, to lift the sanctions at the request of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
With the lifting of the sanctions, Trump can move to the ground, as Al -Zoubi is scheduled to go to Damascus this week to submit an official request to obtain licenses for the towering tower.
