Since Dr. Abdulaziz Tantawi took over the presidency of the New Valley University, the university has been in a real unprecedented boom in its history. No one can deny the radical transformations that this scientific edifice witnessed, whether in terms of infrastructure, or in terms of horizontal and vertical expansion in the number of colleges and specialties.
Today the university has become major colleges that until recently were just dreams of paper: engineering, medicine, computers and artificial intelligence, pharmacy, agriculture, science, economics and political science, media, and literature. All of this is calculated for the current administration, and it deserves praise and appreciation.
But … frankly, with the eyes of the journalist who is not satisfied with half of the image, we say there is still a fatal shortage and a clear deformation in the map of the university colleges. The talk here about the Faculty of Law, that edifice, which represents the backbone of any integrated scientific system.
Where is the Faculty of Law, a question posed by thousands of the new valley people, and the interviewed governorates, not only students, but parents, interested, and jealous of the future of their province. Is it reasonable for the university to include all these colleges, and it is totally absent from this weight and status. Is it reasonable for the valley students to travel to far universities to study the law, is it not their right to find their specialties within the limits of their province?
The Faculty of Law is not a luxury, and not academic accessories. Rather, it has become an inevitable necessity in any university that respects and aspires to leadership. It is the law that guarantees the proper functioning of institutions, which regulates the relationship between the authority and the citizen, between the administration and the employee, between the citizen and the state. The existence of a college of rights means preparing legal cadres capable of protecting rights, maintaining duties, and community service.
Moreover, the existence of the Law College will create a unique harmony between other colleges. Between law and engineering is a link, between the law and the media is a relationship, and between the law and the economy is a necessity, and between law and medicine in general. The law is not an isolated specialization, but rather the balance in which all sciences are weighed.
We put these words, these demands, and these voices, in front of the university president, Dr. Abdulaziz Tantawi. He is the man from whom we have touched a quick response and a clear ambition in pushing the university forward. But the true judgment remains on any leadership in its ability to listen to people, and translate their demands into actions.
Our message is clear, the Faculty of Law, a real popular demand, which is very late, and it is time to achieve it. We do not want new promises, and we do not want an additional postponement. We want a clear, urgent, brave. A decision proves that the New Valley University is not only growing from abroad, but also integrates from the inside.
Dr. Abdel Aziz Tantawi, as you made from achievement, completed the dream. Open the door to the Faculty of Law, and let the justice take its place at the University of Al -Aqoul.
