US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order stipulating the launch of projects to build 10 new large nuclear reactors during the next five years, by 2023.
Trump said in the executive order he signed: To maximize the speed and size of the new nuclear capacity, the Ministry of Energy must give priority to work with the nuclear energy industry to facilitate 5 GB of energy promotions for current nuclear reactors and obtain 10 new large reactions with complete designs under construction by 2030.
Energy production from nuclear power plants
The executive matter states that the US Department of Energy and the Minister of Energy should give priority to activities to provide the resources necessary to restart closed nuclear power plants, increase energy production from operating nuclear power plants, complete the construction of nuclear reactors that were suspended prematurely, and to build new advanced nuclear reactors, and improve all aspects related to the nuclear fuel supply chain.
Trump has signed four executive orders aimed at raising restrictions and simplifying the rules to stimulate the nuclear industry in the United States, including the reform of the nuclear regulation committee and the speedy regulatory process related to the test of nuclear reactors.
One of the executive orders stipulates the launch of a pilot program aimed at operating three experimental nuclear reactors by July 2026.
