Minister of Communications and Communications: A sophisticated and sustainable Bahraini system for transportation and logistical services

Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Communications and Communications, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is distinguished by a sophisticated and sustainable system of maritime and air transport networks and logistical services within the framework of the partnership between the public and private sectors, in line with the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Great Country, may God protect and preserve him, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince The ministers, may God protect him.

This came when the minister participated in the International Transport Forum (ITF), which is held in the city of Leipzig, Federal Republic of Germany, from May 21 to 23, under the umbrella of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, in the presence of a number of ministers of transport, heads of international organizations, experts, academics and private sector officials, and this year focuses on the issue of “enhancing transportation flexibility in front of global shocks”.

The Minister reviewed, in a discussion session on “Flexibility in Maritime and Logistical Transport Networks”, the leading Bahraini experience in enhancing the flexibility and sustainability of transportation systems, in a way that supports Bahrain’s economic vision 2030, and promotes its readiness in facing the growing global challenges such as climate change, cyber attacks, geopolitical conflicts, and energy fluctuations, according to a pre -emptive approach based on three main axes to support the transformation Digital, promoting the partnership between the public and private sectors, and the development of human capabilities.

He added that the Kingdom of Bahrain, by virtue of its strategic location on the vital charging lines in the Arabian Gulf, adopted advanced initiatives to enhance the flexibility of maritime transport in stabilizing supply chains, through digital transformation in scheduling truck dates, the national ports community system, and working around the clock in the port of Khalifa bin Salman, and activating the role of the Bahrain World and Air Charging Center, the first of its kind in the region, in facilitating the transportation of shipments from The port to the airport is of quality, effectiveness, speed and high operational efficiency.

The Minister also participated in a discussion session within the open ministerial event entitled: “Breaking interests and prospects – cooperation with the private sector to enhance flexibility”, which discussed the role of the private sector, from logistical services companies to transport operators, in ensuring the flow of passengers and goods, in normal times and during crises. The session touched on the most prominent common challenges facing the public and private sectors, and cooperation mechanisms to address them, in addition to ways to harness the joint innovation to enhance sustainable and flexible transport. During an intervention in the session, he stressed the importance of developing the institutional and legislative frameworks that contribute to facilitating this cooperation and achieving comprehensive development goals.

On the sidelines of the summit, the minister toured the accompanying exhibition, during which he was briefed on the latest technologies in the areas of smart transportation, logistical solutions, and sustainable infrastructure.

The Minister of Communications and Communications held fruitful official meetings with a number of owners and happiness ministers of transport and senior officials in brotherly and friendly countries and representatives of international organizations, during which he stressed the Kingdom’s keenness to expand its strategic network in the transport sector, and exchange experiences, in a way that enhances its position as an advanced regional center, and supports sustainable development goals.

Where he discussed with Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al -Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the fields of cooperation and strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries.

The Minister reviewed with Abdel Samad Qayyouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics in the sisterly Kingdom of Morocco, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the transportation, logistical services and infrastructure development sectors.

The minister, during his meeting with Christian Hert, the Parliamentary Minister of State of the German Federal Ministry of Transport, pointed to the keenness of the Kingdom

Bahrain to enhance cooperation and economic and technical partnership with the Federal Republic of Germany, to serve common development interests.

At the end of the visit, Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Communications and Communications, stressed, during his meeting with Dr. Yong Tae Kim, Secretary -General of the International Transport Forum, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to enhance international cooperation and partnership in adopting innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency of transportation and logistics networks, and its flexibility for a safer and sustainable future.
