And day after day, and perhaps hour after hour, warnings in Muharraq Governorate are escalating about the falling homes, which have become a direct threat to the safety of citizens and residents, in the absence of actual solutions, the continuation of administrative complications and the conflicts of powers. Despite the clearness of the seriousness of this problem, the neglect of the heirs on the one hand, and the complexity of procedures, still constitute a major obstacle to reaching solutions Radical and effective, ends the suffering of the population and restores stability to the affected areas.
“The Third”: The danger of the third district of the governorate, a member of the Muharraq Municipal Council, Abdul Qadir Mahmoud, confirms that the number of homes that fall to the fall exceeds twenty houses, some of which are heritage and others that do not fall under this classification, but they all face the same fate, as a result of the complex measures that drain time without concrete results.
Mahmoud notes the presence of two dilapidated houses located on a narrow street, which raises the degree of risk to extreme levels, as any partial collapse may cause a disaster.
And he stresses that the matter requires a direct and rapid decision from the director of the municipality of Muharraq, without waiting for the long traditional paths, stressing that the issue exceeded the regulatory aspects, and it has become the safety of lives.
Abdel -Qader Mahmoud calls for a decisive intervention from the municipality of Muharraq, where he said: “There must be a courageous decision by the director of the Muharraq municipality, and to take a quick decision without waiting for the long procedures in such urgent matters, in addition to that the council raised many recommendations of this problem.”
It indicates that the damage does not stop at the construction side only, as these abandoned houses have become a shelter for insects and mice, which negatively reflects the neighboring population, especially in light of the transmission of these pests to their homes and cars, causing increasing health and material damage, such as the entry of mice into cars and biting wires.
Abdel -Qader Mahmoud called on the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities to move immediately towards the houses under its supervision, especially those that no one has the right to dispose of it, indicating that some of these properties want their heirs to demolish, which requires serious and rapid intervention, whether from the commission or from the municipality of Muharraq.
“The Second”: an environmental and social danger in the second circle, a member of the Muharraq Municipal Council, Dalal Al -Muqawi, transmits a similar image of suffering, as it confirms that a number of homes in its circle are a real threat as a result of its cracking and neglect, in light of the complete prevention of its demolition.
She adds that these houses threaten the safety of passers -by and the population, as well as their transformation into foci of suspicious practices, rodents and insects. Al -Muqawi explains that the people are heading to the municipal councils in order to seek a solution, but they collide with the refusal of the Culture and Antiquities Authority to demolish in order to preserve the heritage value, while the municipality demands to correct the situation, which made the citizens live a state of loss between the two sides, without a way out It is clear. She pointed out that the problem is getting more complicated by the absence of support for restoration, and the lack of a choice of expropriation, at a time when the heirs are unable – who jointly own real estate – to bear the high costs of restoration, or to benefit from it economically.
Al -Muqawi indicates that the municipal council used all the tools, including official emotions, recommendations and meetings, in an effort to find a fundamental solution, without a result until now.

The positions of the relevant official authorities are distributed as follows: Municipalities: ready to demolish, but they require obtaining the necessary approvals from the rest of the parties, and the council has provided the list of homes that fall.
Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities: It refuses to demolish homes of heritage value, and confirms only restoration.
Security authorities: You see that these houses have become a real source of inconvenience to the families and security authorities, in light of the many complaints, and the council has provided the list of abandoned and dangerous houses, and deal with communications directly.
Limited responses from his side, the Municipal Council of Municipal tried to push this file to the front of the priorities. In October 2022, a committee was formed that included the official authorities concerned to follow up on the issue.
In October 2024, the Council recommended that the Culture and Antiquities Authority be held responsible for the falling houses, but the authority responded to the rejection, calling for a separate budget for restoration or expropriation from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture.
When the council repeated its demand in November 2024, the ministerial committee supported the position of the commission, and the Ministry of Municipalities assigned to coordinate with it to find appropriate solutions. Until 2025, the council is still continuing to follow up without radical solutions.
Urgent intervention is a necessity
In light of the suffering monitors of the people, and the documents and statements that have been documented for the members of the Municipal Council, the file of the houses that are to fall in the Muharraq Governorate is no longer just a service or organizational issue, but rather has become an urgent priority that requires urgent and decisive intervention from all concerned authorities, to avoid the humanitarian disasters that may result in, especially in vital sites that witness a daily movement of the population and visitors.
