The Bahraini Diabetes Association announced the launch of a professional training program that aims to enable doctors working in primary care to implement modern guidelines to treat high blood pressure within their daily practices, through an integrated scientific curriculum that reflects the latest findings of research in this field, under the direction of the President of the Supreme Council of Health and Chairman of the Bahrain Diabetes Association, Lieutenant General Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
This program comes within the framework of the continuous commitment of the Bahraini Diabetes Association to improve the quality of health care and enhance the efficiency of dealing with chronic diseases, and in conjunction with May activities for awareness of high blood pressure.
The Vice -Chairman of the Bahrain Diabetes Association, Dr. Maryam Al -Hajri, explained that this program comes at a time when the need for systematic scientific interventions to reduce the burden of high blood pressure in Bahrain, especially since primary care represents the first line of defense in the management of chronic diseases.
This training is a qualitative step that will reflect positively on patient health and enhance the efficiency of health systems in the Kingdom. It also mentioned the close relationship between diabetes and high blood pressure in terms of causes and complications, which makes the association interested in these scientific activities that enhance the comprehensive health of those living with diabetes and all members of society.
For its part, the consultant of endocrinology and diabetes and head of the scientific committee of the association, Professor Dalal Al -Rumaihi, said that the program focuses on building scientific and practical knowledge of doctors through three main units covering: the basics of high blood pressure, clinical evaluation, pressure control objectives, and available treatment methods, whether non -pharmaceutical or pharmaceutical. It is also devoted to an important part of the program to the customized treatment strategies according to the patient’s condition, including dealing with complex conditions such as diabetics, and those who suffer from high treatment of treatment, or those who have heart diseases or other serious factors.
The training program presented a consultant cardiologist Dr. Rashid Al -Banay, where he stated that this program is characterized by its interactive and applied style, as the participating doctors are required to complete the program by providing two clinical cases of their realistic practice, to be reviewed by accredited experts, in order to ensure the application of theoretical knowledge in a practical way. The program targets family doctors and general medicine who supervise the treatment of patients with high blood pressure regularly, who are ready to participate in this training and fulfill its requirements, in addition to their commitment to transfer these experiences to their colleagues within the primary health care centers in which they work.
The Bahraini Diabetes Association thanked Servier to support this important scientific activity, in a move that emphasizes the importance of the partnership between the health sector and civil society to develop the skills of doctors.
