The Minister of Youth Affairs, Rawan Tawfiqi, confirmed that Bahrain is currently working to expand the scope of youth initiatives locally, regional and internationally, noting that Bahrain attaches great importance to empowering young people and activating their role in leading the paths of positive transformation, as a basic pillar to build a prosperous and sustainable future.
Minister Tawfiqi, in her speech at the World Health, Safety and Environment Exhibition in its ninth edition, which is hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain, stated that holding this conference reflects the urgent need for teamwork and strategic partnerships crossing the border and specialties, as well as the vital role that young people play in drawing the features of the future.
She said: “In a world that witnesses accelerated changes and challenges, it has become necessary to harness the energies of youth and enable them to contribute effectively to developing sustainable solutions, whether in the areas of environmental innovation, or digital transformation, by empowering young people in various fields.”
During the speech, Minister of Youth Affairs reviewed the national initiatives launched by the Kingdom of Bahrain to embody this trend on the ground, among them the Bahraini Scientific Center for Sustainable Development Goals, which was established in 2018 as an advanced educational institution that works to enhance environmental awareness and spread a culture of innovation in the areas of clean energy and environmental sustainability, and the center depends in its operations and programs on environmentally friendly technologies that contribute to the consolidation of sustainability practices between Youth category.
It shed light on the “Youth City 2030” initiative, which is one of the largest national programs designated for youth in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as it provides over six weeks an interactive educational environment that includes advanced workshops in multiple fields such as science, technology, media, arts, and entrepreneurship, with the aim of refining youth skills and providing them with the tools necessary to succeed in the future labor market and active participation in public life.
The Minister of Youth Affairs said that these initiatives are only part of a comprehensive system adopted by the Kingdom to enhance the role of youth in development, within the national strategy to empower youth, which aims to create a supportive and stimulating environment that enables young people to be creative, innovative and participate in decision -making, stressing that the Kingdom of Bahrain is currently working to expand the scope of these initiatives locally, regional and internationally, by building sustainable partnerships that enhance the exchange Cognitive and encourages joint youth projects, as part of its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Agency 2030, and its aspirations to the effective contribution to achieving global goals.
At the end of her speech, the Minister of Youth Affairs confirmed that young people are not only the focus of the present, but are major partners in formulating a more secure and sustainable future, and that investing in the capabilities of youth and enabling them to innovate and knowledge tools is the main pillar of any real development transformation.
