The Al -Azhar Observatory said that the city of Jerusalem is witnessing an escalation in tensions with the coming of the anniversary of the occupation of the eastern part of it, and this atmosphere coincides with preparations by Israeli extremist groups to carry out intense incursions into the Al -Aqsa Mosque.
The observatory explained that in parallel, the Israeli Prime Minister intends to hold a session of its ministers in the Palestinian Silwan neighborhood, which is located south of the mosque,
In these measures, Al -Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism, and most of the Palestinian and Arab parties, sees explicit efforts to impose alleged Israeli control over the city and change its Arab and Islamic character.
Calls for Al -Aqsa intrusions and provocative “march of flags”
The Observatory continued in a statement: The extremist “Temple” organizations, led by “in our hands for the Temple Mount” organization, launched calls to the settlers to implement wide incursions into the blessed Al -Aqsa Mosque next Monday, corresponding to May 26, 2025, this date comes in conjunction with what the occupation calls the Hebrew Jerusalem, which commemorates the occupation of the eastern part of the city in 1967.
He added: The calls were not limited to the incursions only, but also included the organization of what is known as the provocative “march of flags”, which will pass in the city center to reach the vicinity of the Al -Aqsa Mosque, in a review of the force aimed at confirming the “Zionist sovereignty” on the city, and it is expected that during these incursions and the march a number of provocative Talmudic rituals will be implemented, under strict protection from the occupation police.
He explained: In a parallel and complementary framework for these practices, the Office of the Prime Minister of the Occupation announced a meeting of his government in the Palestinian town of Silwan, south of Al -Aqsa Mosque, next Monday, May 26, and the office clarified that the meeting will be held in what the occupation calls the city of David, claiming that it is “the cradle of national heritage and the heart of the unified and eternal capital.”
The Observatory noted that this step is a dangerous escalation, as Silwan is an authentic Palestinian town that is undergoing an ongoing displacement and narrowing campaign by the occupation authorities and settlers, and a government meeting in it aimed at imposing a new reality and confirming the occupation allegations on the ground.
The Al -Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism stressed that these Zionist attempts, whether issued by the government or by the extremist “Temple” groups, come within the framework of continuous attempts to perpetuate Zionist sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem.
The Observatory renewed its strong warning of the danger of these continuous escalation steps by the occupation and its extremist groups, which aim to Judaize the occupied city of Jerusalem by increasing the pace of attacks on Islamic and Christian sanctities, and seizing more Palestinian lands to build settlements on them.
The observatory also warned that this escalation comes in a very sensitive timing, in conjunction with the announcement of the occupation the beginning of a new round of its brutal aggression on the bereaved Gaza Strip, which threatens more deterioration in the situation and increased the intensity of the conflict in the region.
