The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, Wael Al -Mubarak, revealed that the area of the lands offered to farmers today, by the Ministry, in cooperation with the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, reaches 140 thousand square meters, at a time when the coming months will also witness the launch of a new batch of land.
Al -Mubarak said, during the ceremony honoring the winners of the King Hamad Agricultural Development Prize 5: “This award reflects the high interest from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, to support agricultural development as an integral part of our agricultural heritage and the history of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its Highness’s keenness to support farmers.”
He added: «All thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the wife of the country’s great monarch, Chairman of the Consultative Council at the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector.
He continued: “This award aims primarily to support agricultural development, highlight the efforts of Bahraini farms, encourage innovation, and encourage research,” explaining that “our presence today in this award with Sheikha Maram, Secretary -General for the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, confirms the Kingdom’s keenness and directives of the government to support the agricultural sector.”
He expressed the aspiration through this award that “there will be initiatives and ideas to develop the agricultural sector,” noting that “such awards encourage innovation and overcoming challenges, and our Bahraini farms and our researchers are creative and deserve all of us.”
