The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority organized a tourist program for delegations represented by more than 180 countries, participating in the meeting of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), and the celebration ceremony for the year 2025, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Basketball, in strategic partnership with the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority.
In this context, Mrs. Maryam Ahmed Tourani, Director of Marketing and Promotion Department of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, confirmed that this initiative comes as an embodiment of the tourism sector strategy (2022-2026), which sports tourism is one of its basic pillars, noting that hosting the Kingdom of Bahrain for this prominent sporting event, and honoring a group of global basketball celebrities, which again proves the Kingdom’s ability to provide an exceptional experience at the two levels Organizational and hospitality, and these activities contribute to promoting the Kingdom of Bahrain as a global tourist destination by attracting visitors, and introducing them to its culture, history and distinguished sites.
She added that the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority was keen, through the program, to diversify tourist destinations and experiences, so that each visit is an opportunity to explore the advanced and integrated tourism structure enjoyed by the Kingdom of Bahrain, pointing out that the organization of tourism tours for the participants is part of the promotional efforts made by the authority, which aims to deepen the experience of visitors and enhance their association with the Kingdom of Bahrain, as a sports site, and as an integrated tourist destination.
The tourist tour also comes with the aim of devoting the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position on the map of international sports and tourism events, enhancing attracting more events, and supporting the sustainable development of the tourism sector.
Tourism programs included a visit to the most prominent cultural, heritage and tourism attractions in the Kingdom, including the Bahrain Castle, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, in addition to visiting Al -Fateh Al -Kabeer Mosque, which represents an architectural masterpiece that expresses the contemporary Islamic character in Bahrain, and the visits also included the Bahrain National Museum, the old Manama Market, and the visit of the Al -Baraza Market, and these tours provided for participants from different countries a unique opportunity to discover the features of identity The distinguished Bahraini, and the cultural richness of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
