“Fiba Foundation” today, Saturday, held an event for the youngness of the Khalifa Sports City Hall, with the wide participation of young players and players, as part of the social programs accompanying the convening of the International Basketball Federation 2025 in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
This event, called “Fiba Foundation Clinic”, aims to establish an emerging base of talent in basketball, by providing educational and interactive training for children, under the supervision of a group of coaches accredited by the International Federation, where exercises focused on basic skills in the game such as passing, paying and collecting collective, along with instilling sports values such as collective work and discipline Equality.
The event witnessed a remarkable presence of a number of global basketball celebrities, led by German star Dirk Novitsky, the legend of the Dallas Marax team in the American Professional Basketball League, who interacted with the participating children and was keen to encourage them and follow their training.
The presence of shiny names such as Novitsky is a great motivation for the rising young people, as it gives them a moral incentive and instills aspiration to achieve their dreams and walk in the footsteps of the most prominent stars of the game on the international scene.
This initiative falls under the umbrella of the “Basketball for Good” program, which is one of the main pillars of “Fiba Foundation”, which is the social arm and cultural heritage of the International Federation, and through which it seeks to use basketball as a way to promote health, education and gender equality, fight injustice and inequality, in line with the United Nations sustainable development goals.
Since the start of “Basketball for Good” programs in 2016, the Foundation has succeeded in reaching more than 95,000 beneficiaries annually in 158 countries around the world, which reflects its commitment to achieving a concrete societal impact through sports.
The organization of this event in Bahrain reflects the confidence of the International Federation in the Kingdom’s capabilities to embrace the global dimension development initiatives.
And its growing role in supporting community sport and enhancing basketball as a tool for positive change.
“Fiba Foundation” is also the authority responsible for preserving the cultural heritage of basketball by managing the “Basketball House – Patrick Bauman”, which is a global center for the history of the game and documenting its achievements.
