On Thursday, the Tik Talk platform announced the launch of a new feature within the application represented in directed mediation. The company began testing this feature with a limited number of adolescents earlier this year, to be now available to all users of the application around the world.
Objective: Better sleep and reduce night addiction
The feature aims to improve the quality of users and encourage them to close the application during the late night hours, which often witnesses endless browsing sessions.
Acting automatically for teenagers under 18 years old
For adolescents under the age of 18, the meditation feature will be automatically. If the teenager uses the application after 10 pm, the usual videos will be cut off with a directed meditation message that includes a calming screen, soft music and breathing exercises.
Double alerts for those who ignore the message
If the teenager ignores the first message and continues to use the app, a new reminder window will appear to fill the screen, urging him to stop and sleep.
In response to the pressure of the legislative bodies
This feature comes within the framework of Tech Talk efforts to enhance the safety of teenage users, especially after anxiety increased from the impact of the application on the youth category. The meditation feature is a new attempt by the company to reassure legislators interested in mental health safety.
Adults can activate it manually
As for adults, they can activate the feature manually through the “Screen Time Settings” page, by activating the “Sleep Hours” option and determining the appropriate time to display the meditation exercise every night.
A contribution to global mental health support
Tek Talk also announced that she donated $ 2.3 million from advertising balance for 31 mental health organizations, distributed over 19 countries, within the “Mental Health Awareness Fund” launched by the platform.
