Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, participated in the 28th meeting of owners of ministers concerned with municipal affairs in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, which was held Thursday, May 15, 2025 in the Kuwaiti capital, Kuwait, in the presence of Excellencies and Excellency the Ministers of the Cooperation Council countries for the Gulf States concerned with the municipalities sector.
The blessed minister affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to enhance and develop joint Gulf action within the unified vision to develop municipal work and push its paths towards a wider horizon, and to achieve the desired goals and aspirations of the countries of the region.
The minister pointed to the important vital role played by the municipal sectors to enhance, support and achieve comprehensive development standards in a manner that ensures the progress of Gulf societies and enhancing their national economies, in light of the generous care and the blessed directives of the owners of Majesty and the name of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council states, which reflect the great keenness to upgrade the process of joint Gulf municipal work and its development, to achieve the lofty goals of deepening cooperation, interdependence and integration between GCC states.
The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture stressed the importance of continuing to work with the brothers in the Gulf municipal sector to unify efforts and develop the legislation and mechanisms of municipal control, and exchange experiences and successful experiences, noting the achievements of the Gulf municipal work that achieved the visions and directives of the leaders of the GCC states, by reaching economic, social and urban integration.
The ministerial meeting discussed the decisions of the Supreme Council on the urban environment and strategic urban planning. The meeting was also approved by the Integrated Waste Management Directory and the Urban Design Directory in the Cooperation Council countries for the Arab States of the Gulf. The meeting was approved “The City Capacity Holidays in the Cooperation Council countries” adopted that the Kingdom of Bahrain adopted its preparation, and the establishment of the Urban Research Center in the Cooperation Council countries was approved, which will be hosted by the College of Architecture and Planning at King Saud University in the city of Riyadh.
