On Tuesday evening, the Syrian people celebrated the decision of US President Donald Trump to lift sanctions on their country.
In social media videos, many citizens, who went to the streets on their cars, can see the flags and chanting the chants, to celebrate the Trump announcement.
The sanctions imposed on Syria during the past years surrounded its people, and have deepened poverty in Syrian society, amid difficult living conditions.
The Syrians hold hopes for the future after the Arab and international openness to their country, which was besieged by isolation for years during the rule of former President Bashar al -Assad.
The US President said, on Tuesday, in front of the Saudi -American Investment Forum, that he will announce the lifting of sanctions on Syria, in order to give it a “opportunity to prosper.”
Trump added: “These sanctions were paralyzing the Syrian economy, and they were required earlier, and now it is time for Syria to shine.”
He continued: “Happy to announce that Marco Rubio will meet his Syrian counterpart later this week.”
