The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, Wael Al -Mubarak, revealed that Bahrain paves the pioneer in the “Halal” industry, and that it will work to enact legislation in this field in the future to support the system, in addition to establishing an electronic platform for transactions. This came in his response to the question of MP Ahmed Al -Salloum regarding the criteria of halal and the mechanism of control over it. For his part, Salloum said that the Ministry’s efforts are clear, but Bahrain is still at the beginning regarding the halal industry. He pointed to the importance of the sector economically, religiously and socially, stressing that the halal industry exceeds billions of dollars, and is a tributary of the economy in Islamic countries. Al -Salloum suggested the establishment of an independent body to adopt the permissible and forbidden, develop legislation, and issue a Bahrain health industries guide. He stressed the need for coordination between the governmental and private sectors, and openness to the global market, while benefiting from the experiences of Bahraini companies.
