The Pakistani army announced today, Thursday, the shooting down of 12 Indian drones that penetrated the Pakistani airspace, in the latest escalation of tensions between the two neighboring countries.
A statement issued by a spokesman for the Pakistani army stated that the Air Force succeeded in intercepting the marches in several locations, and its wreckage is now being collected in the cities of Karachi and Lahore to analyze it.
The statement indicated that this process comes within the framework of “self -defense” in response to “repeated violations” of the Pakistani air field, accusing India of trying to carry out reconnaissance or provocative attacks.
The army confirmed that on a state of high alert, warning that any additional attack will face “firm and decisive response.”
For its part, India has not issued an immediate official comment on the accident.
This development comes in light of the escalation of tensions between the two nuclear countries, against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict over the Kashmir region, which recently witnessed an exchange of bombing and military strikes.
