The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities confirmed that it has begun to develop a plan that is currently being studied with the relevant authorities, to take a decision on it, with the aim of encouraging the private sector and landowners to work to develop their properties in proportion to the heritage, historical and cultural values, and to pay attention to enhancing economic returns.
In its response to the question of MP Ali Al -Dossary, the commission indicated that it has applied the investment system in heritage buildings through an open appeal to activate a number of buildings within the World Heritage website for the Pearl Path, and it was directed to institutions, companies, entrepreneurs and individuals working in various cultural and creative fields design, handicrafts, fashion, field of foods and drinks, and hotel in the year 2024, and these buildings were opened within a festival Al -Muharraq Nights for the year 2024.
The authority is also working on developing the Al -Qalaa neighborhood project, as it consists of houses adjacent to the southern side of the Bahrain Castle site, which is the second village that was built in the area surrounding the castle after the first village removed the borders of the archaeological hill, in conjunction with early archaeological excavations on the site, where these houses are still a witness to the relationship between the archaeological site included on the list of the global human heritage of UNESCO since 2005 AD, and community members The local who was directly related to this historical legacy.
The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities seeks to restore and rehabilitate these houses, to perpetuate the form of preserving the transitional era buildings, allowing them to be used and investing for vital commercial and cultural purposes.
