When I write about the late Abdulaziz Mohamed Youssef Bouhji – may God have mercy on him – I am not only writing about a public figure, but about the brother of Aziz. I lived with the family of the father, Muhammad bin Yusuf Bouhji, in the city of Muharraq, the details of love and respect, and touched his good spirit, his high creation, his family tenderness, and his bright presence on every family, social and national occasion.
From the first moment I entered the Bouhaji family’s house, I felt as if I was born between them. My relationship with them was not only a relative relationship, but a relationship of love and affiliation. She found in their mother – may God have mercy on her – the example of a compassionate Bahraini mother with a strong personality, who brings her children together and raised them on the authentic values, and broadcasts in the house a spirit of respect and solidarity. She was the mother of everyone, with her kindness and containment, and in her presence, the place fills the warmth and prestige. As for their father, it was a symbol of dignity, mind and wisdom, with a great place in the hearts of family members, and it was a reference and axis based on decisions and positions.
What I found in Beit Bouhaji is the Bahraini family as it should be: loved ones, joints, generosity in their giving, deep in their friendliness, pure in their intentions. They gave me their love and their confidence, which made me cherish and proud of affiliation with them, and that my children carry this ancient name. I never felt that I was “the brother of the brother”, but I was a sister and a girl at the same time, and I met them with an indescribable sympathy and affection.
The late Abdulaziz (Boumham) was only an extension of a generous origin, and an ancient education in Bahrain. He grew up in a house founded by his father, Haji Muhammad bin Youssef Bouhji, known in Muharraq and outside it as one of the Bahraini men whose name was associated with the profession of pearls and pearls, the profession of trust and accuracy, which was transmitted by family men from generation after generation. He was a wise father, and a dignity, present with his social weight, and loved by the generosity of the hand and the purity of the bed, and he had a presence in the councils and hearts alike.
As for his mother, Sheikha bint Abdul Rahman Bouhaji, she was an authentic Bahraini woman, who combined tenderness and the strength of the personality. The Lady of the House and the First Girl, she established her sons on morals, and raised the relationship of the womb, generosity, and pride in name and belonging. She was not only the mother of her children, but she was the mother of everyone who entered her home, with what she was known to be tenderness, containment, and breastfeeding.
The sons inherited from their parents, the good biography, and the good remembrance, as the name of the Bouhaji family in Bahrain is not mentioned unless it is associated with generosity, giving, and good deeds. This reputation had an extension even outside Bahrain, where the family name was associated with good situations, white hands, and high creation.
As for the late Abdulaziz, it was truly a reflection of this noble environment. He was born in Muharraq in 1943, and graduated from the Police College in Cairo in 1966, after which he begins a honorable professional career in the service of his homeland. He joined the Ministry of Interior in 1973, after working in the customs, and he had a pioneering role in the Traffic Department, as he was not satisfied with the administrative side, but rather made traffic awareness a media and social message, in which the heart of each Bahraini entered.
Bouhji presented many programs that people loved, such as “Safety Road”, “Traffic and Child”, “Glimpses from the Date of Traffic”, and others. His voice was carrying guidance and advice, and his mind carries consciousness, while his heart was carrying the sincere love of this country and its sons, with his authentic gossip.
His giving did not stop after retirement, but he continued his message seriously and lovingly, so he was a popular media face, a source of pride for his family and everyone who knew him, and his participation in Gulf and Arab conferences strengthened his presence as a traffic expert, and the best representative of Bahrain in external forums.
On the family level, the late Abdulaziz, the compassionate brother, who was reunited with, was forgotten, and contained. He does not hesitate to ask, support and support, and everyone around him had a source of reassurance, overflowing with wisdom and humor at the same time. The sons of his brothers loved him with indescribable love, and they had a second second father.
Abdulaziz Bouhaji left at dawn on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving behind a pure biography, and many hearts crying and calling for him.
Abdulaziz Bouhji was not only a symbol of giving and awareness, but also an example in humanity and high creation. His memory will remain alive in us, and in those who loved him from the people of Bahrain and abroad.
May God have mercy on you, my dear brother Boumham, and I will dwell in his spacious gardens.
