And I start my day with the newspaper “Al -Watan”, I caught my attention on the first page of the “smart inspection” system. I read the news carefully, but my mind could not stay in front of this development, so my thoughts immediately sneaked into the alleys of the popular Manama market, and I started imagining the scene as if I was there now.
I began to hear in my mind the voices of the sellers, and they rise as if popular calls overlapped in the crowding of the market, and the scents of incense mixed with oriental perfumes and colored fabrics, until I felt that I live the moment just like my childhood days, when these popular markets were our first destination before the era of large groups and international brands that made us consumers “rice”.
I remembered how we were young, we grabbed the hands of our mothers, and we wander among the adjacent small stores, where every seller swears to you that he sells a loss, and how the purchase process was a difficult task full of broken brokenness and discussion.
At this moment, I imagined a different scene that we did not get used to before. I saw a group of foreign workers inside the market, along with Bahraini youth wearing official cards and a distinctive red tape. The situation was never normal, as the Bahraini inspector began to ask the Bahraini dialect with confidence, and the foreign worker answers his original language without any confusion. A very natural dialogue without signs or complex attempts to explain, as if we were facing a scene adapted from a negotiating session at the United Nations, and not at the heart of a simple popular market!
I said to myself smiling: “The Bahraini has always been known for his openness and acceptance of cultures, but this time it seems that he took things for a higher level!” Soon I discovered the secret behind this, as the tablet in the hands of the inspector was the one who was immediately and accurately translating the dialogue.
Here I realized that we had officially entered into the era of artificial intelligence, and that our inspectors turned into developed copies of “Google Tramplette”, but in the form of a Bahraini person! I began to think about the benefits of this development, how the errors will decrease, the speed of the response increases, and how this system could contribute to enhancing oversight and protecting the rights of workers and business owners alike. A simple development, but it is able to solve dozens of daily problems that were consuming time and effort from the inspectors and workers together.
This beautiful shot continued in my mind for minutes, before inspectors moved lightly and quickly to the next store. It is clear that the era of notebooks and heavy papers has ended to replace the era of smart technologies whose results are now in front of our eyes. These results, certainly, did not come from a vacuum, but rather came as a result of a conscious administrative vision and supportive directives, translated on the ground, real competencies that work calmly and mastering to develop and improve the performance of government operations.
This imagined image made me optimistic a lot, not only because of the new technology that facilitates the lives of people and accelerates the procedures, but also because we have already started to see technology help us in the simplest details of our daily life. The most beautiful is that this development comes with young Bahraini hands that confirm that “our youth are good and blessed” and that betting on national competencies is always a winning bet.
The newspaper put aside and I smile and meditate, saying to myself: “As long as we reach this degree of progress, who knows? Perhaps the day comes when we find robots roaming us in the popular Manama market, and do inspectors! ”* A technical expert
