A tragic story of the hero Ammar Mohamed, an Egyptian young man, 26 years old, studied at the Odessa Naval Academy in Ukraine before the war.
According to an interview conducted by the Egyptian captive on social media in Ukraine, Ammar returned to his country after the comprehensive Russian attack of Ukraine in February 2022, but he later decided to continue his studies in Russia, where he joined the specialization of business economics.

Here the story started, as Ammar joined the Russian army with two other Egyptian youths, and after they signed the recruitment contracts the three tried to escape, one of them succeeded in escaping, while Ammar was arrested and imprisoned for 3 days, then he was returned to his military unit.
Ammar remained in the unit for 5 months without sending to the front, because of his refusal to fight without obtaining a Russian passport, and after receiving the passport, he was sent to the war in Ukraine, and he was accompanied by another Egyptian young man named Omar.

On their first day on the front, they were injured during the clashes, and they were captured by the Ukrainian forces, who were treated, and Ammar is in captivity from about 3 months so far.
Thanks to the initiative – I want to find – and an organization – our way out – his brother Abdel Rahman was able to track him and communicate with him through a video call.
During the video call with his mother, Ammar Mohamed pledged that he would not return to the fighting again, confirming his remorse for his decision.
