The Ministry of Sustainable Development held a specialized workshop in cooperation with the Resident Coordinator Office in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), on the mechanisms for calculating the indicators of sustainable development goals related to the ninth goal concerned with industry, innovation and infrastructure, in the presence of representatives of a number of relevant government agencies. To cover the seventeen goals within its plan to update the data of the indicators of sustainable development goals; In order to enhance national statistical ability, develop monitoring and analysis mechanisms, exchange data and advance their quality. The workshop witnessed the discussion of the ninth goal indicators concerned with enhancing the sustainable infrastructure, expanding the base of manufacturing and stimulating innovation, by measuring the share of the industry in the gross domestic product, the percentage of industrial employment, and the availability of communications services, in addition to the indicators of spending on research and development, with deepening in the methods of data calculation, and coordination between the calculations to ensure quality and sustainability of flow Data. This workshop participated in the workshop with approximately 40 participants of statistics and specialists from various government agencies, as well as the participation of representatives of the United Nations and international organizations concerned with the ninth goal in the workshop work in the presence of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and participated through visual communication representatives of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International Federation of Communications (ITU), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the Economic and Social Committee of the Asia Western (ESCWA). At the end of the workshop, the participants stressed the importance of accurate and updated data in supporting decision makers and setting national policies in the fields of infrastructure, industry and innovation, noting that enhancing integration between the relevant authorities contributes to raising the readiness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to provide national and regional reports Exact about progress made in this vital field, which reflects positively on achieving comprehensive and sustainable development. Representatives of international organizations also praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in supporting industry and innovation, and the extent of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment and interest in improving data quality.
