A medical team in the Department of ENT surgery at the main hospital at Assiut University succeeded in saving the eyes of a child suffering from a serious abscess in the eye, resulting from sinusitis.

This came with the support and care of Dr. Ahmed Al -Minshawi, President of the University, Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, Dr. Khaled Abdel Aziz, Director of the Main University Hospital, and Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Rushdi, Head of the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat.
The emergency department of the main hospital had received a 6 -year -old child, suffering from acute teeth pain and infections, and a noticeable swelling on the left side of the face, in addition to the presence of dug in the left eye, and after a careful examination and a CT scan, it was found that acute infections of the left sinuses are accompanied by a complicated sinusitis with left Orbital Sub Periosteal Abslesss, a condition that requires urgent surgical intervention to maintain the child’s eyesight,
Immediately, the medical team, which included: Dr. Ahmed Antar Badran, the teacher in the department, the doctor Ahmed Gamal Abdel Hamid, the assistant teacher, and the doctor Mayada Mohamed Radi, a resident of the department, assisted by the doctor Ahmed Sayed, a resident doctor in the anesthesia and intensive care department, and Mister Mohamed Gamal, a nursing assistant, a precise lapse surgery for the nose and the sinuses on the same day.
The medical team was able to empty the abscess inside the nose with complete success by using a light endoscope, and without the need to perform any external surgical cracks, the operation culminated in success, and the child’s condition improved significantly, as the hospital left only three days after the date of reservation and surgery while he was in good health and his sound vision.
