The media center of the Red Sea Ports Authority announced the decision to close the port of Hurghada maritime in the Red Sea Governorate until further notice, yesterday evening, due to the continuation of bad weather, as the wind speed ranges between 30 and 35 northwest knots, and the height of the waves ranges between 3 and 4 meters, which makes the sea very turbulent and unsafe for navigation.
The commission stressed that the decision to open or close any port is done in accordance with safety standards and in accordance with actual air reports, in order to preserve lives, property and marine facilities.
The media center of the Red Sea Ports Authority also announced the raising of the degree of readiness and emergency in all ports of the Red Sea, where the situation is continuously followed by the operating rooms in all ports in coordination with the main operations center of the authority.
The rooms work to inform the head of the commission first -hand on any developments, and coordination is also done with the Meteorological Authority to track the weather and provide the necessary expectations.
Major General Engineer Mohamed Abdel Rahim, Chairman of the Red Sea Ports Authority, directed to activate all precautionary measures, which include ensuring the safety of navigation marks at the entrances and exits of the ports, and to follow maritime safety measures to prevent any accidents. It was also emphasized the necessity of fully prepared to confront any emergency that might happen in the coming hours.
The authority confirms that these procedures come within the framework of preserving lives and public and private property, and ensuring the continuity of the safety of maritime navigation in all its ports.
