The inherited folk games championship organized by the Bahraini Committee for Folklore Sports continues its activities with great success in the Post Museum in the Bab Al -Bahrain region, amid a wide demand from fans of heritage sports, until the date of its conclusion on the seventh of next May.
Since its inception, the tournament has witnessed the participation of more than 250 players of all ages, competing with a group of traditional games that express the cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Bahraini Committee for Popular Heritage Sports valued the high positive spirit that the participants showed, and the remarkable cooperation they showed with the organizing committee since the first day of the start of the tournament, which contributed to facilitating the organization of events, and creating a competitive atmosphere of respect and sporting spirit. The organizing committee was keen to diversify the competition methods, as the group system adopted in some games so that the participants qualify for the exclusionary roles starting from the final price and then the quarter -finals, the semi -final and final matches, while the base of the defeated exit is applied directly in other games, which gave a character of excitement and enthusiasm to the course of the championship.
The Bahraini Committee for Popular Heritage Sports stressed the necessity of all players and teams participating in the laws regulating the championship, while emphasizing in particular the importance of wearing the traditional Bahraini uniform, and adhering to the deadlines for specified confrontations without delay.
The committee clarified that any violation of the uniform or delaying the specified date will be considered as an official withdrawal that leads to the calculation of the team or the player as a loser, in an obligation to the regulations announced at the start of the tournament.
The committee also emphasized that the tournament aims to provide a heritage sporting experience that respects the authentic values of the Bahraini folk heritage, pointing out that respect for the system and adherence to instructions and official uniforms is an integral part of the success of this distinguished event.
The inherited popular games championship comes within a series of activities organized by the committee with the aim of promoting national identity and consolidating heritage values in the hearts of new generations.
Through these championships, the committee seeks to revive the popular games, which formed part of the collective memory of the Bahraini society, and highlighting them in a modern form organized befitting the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a cultural and civilizational center.
The championship, which started this April 27 and will continue until May 7, includes a number of Bahraini popular games that are still present in the memory of generations, namely: “Dama”, “Domainah”, “Marital Kerem”, “Kut 6”, and “Hand”.
