So as not to repeat the tragedies last summer!

Although a year has passed, the image of the horrific fire in one of the buildings of the Al -Lawzi area is still stuck in the minds, 4 innocent lives suddenly left, on a night that was not like the rest of May nights, a building of eight roles and thirty -two apartments, some of which turned into a flame mass, and with it the hearts of the victims were burned, and the whole society trembled with the news of the news.

With the entry of summer this year, heat and humidity not only rises, but anxiety increases with it, a burning anxiety that is like a fire that does not wait much to announce itself, the incidents associated with fire increases, and the danger indicator rises, in light of the failure of some to adhere to the safety requirements, whether in homes or shops or even in large residential buildings.

When we return with our eyes back, we do not see merely transient events, but rather a painful series of accidents; The Al -Lawzi apartments fire, the old Manama market fire, and other disasters that left behind painful, human and material losses, and the painful thing is that the numbers were not in our favor, the General Administration of Civil Defense recorded about 967 fires in the first half of last year, a large number that should not be read as a cold statistic but as a warning.

Despite the different causes between electrical faults, gas leakage, maintenance of maintenance, and bad extensions, the result remains the same: unparalleled losses, souls are lost, and safety is lost, all these disasters, no matter how different their causes, intersect at one point; The absence of awareness, and the absence of commitment.

The official authorities, especially the Civil Defense, are making a little effort and thanks, continuous training, advanced equipment, quick response vehicles, and water trailers equipped with the latest equipment, but the question remains: Is this sufficient? Are the official authorities able to carry the safety burden on its own?

The answer is definitely does not need long thinking; Because safety is all our responsibility, as individuals, society, and even institutions, safety starts from individual awareness and ends with strict legislation and laws, we need more than reactions, we need proactive acts, serious inspection campaigns, unimaginable awareness, and accountability that does not have mercy on those who fail, especially in old buildings and overcrowded housing that turn summer into deferred bombs.

Let’s be realistic; The summer does not wait or have mercy, but we can prepare for it, we can put an end to this repeated scenario, not to be satisfied with sadness after every tragedy, but rather by closing this painful page with a strict collective awareness and a law that does not compromise on the lives of people.

Do we wait for another fire that is re -asked the same questions? Or do we actually start closing this painful page through collective awareness, oversight tightening, and legal rigor? The summer will not stop, but the accidents can stop if we choose to live safely, not by chance.

Finally; Let’s all join for a safer, more aware, and more human summer.
