In the heart of Japan, specifically in the Kansai region, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s wing opened its doors within the Expo 2025 Osaka, carrying with him the fragrant history and the sound of the sea, in a fourth participation confirming the renewed cultural presence of the Kingdom on the world arena.
Under the slogan “The seas converge”; The pavilion is not satisfied with being a remarkable architectural building, but rather turns into a sensual and human experience that touches the essence of what Bahrain represents; A civilized civilization, and permanent openness to the world.
With a design inspired by the marine heritage and Japanese carpentry traditions, the pavilion provides a unique vision of the Bahraini relationship to the sea, not as just a natural resource, but as an emotional state and a source of life. Eng. Lina Al -Ghatma has created the translation of this vision into four floors on an area of 995 square meters, mixing modernity, sustainability and local identity.
The design not only reviews the architectural beauty, but also provides the story of a place and a people, where the five senses meet in an interactive experience made by Bahraini talents in cooperation with local artists such as Hassan Hajiri, and creative companies such as Sheberd Studio.
This attendance is not isolated from the broader heritage and cultural dimension, as the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities organized the “Bahrain History and Culture” event in the capital, Tokyo, in cooperation with the Tokyo National Institute, to deepen scientific and humanitarian exchange between the two countries. Visitors were allowed to have an overwhelming experience in the depths of history using virtual reality techniques, to discover the hills of burials and burial rooms from the period of Dilmun and Taylaus, in an interaction linking the ancient past and modern technology.
The Bahraini pavilion, with its cultural and economic offers under the supervision of the Economic Development Council, confirms the integration between history and the future; The café, which is supervised by the Bahraini chef, Telh Bashmi, offers an innovative list that mixes Bahrain flavors and Japanese cooking techniques, while the store displays products inspired by local heritage, and complements the official costumes designed by Lulwa Al -Amin’s image of the wing as an integrated platform for the identity of a homeland.
