The Sohag Endowments Directorate organized 60 extensive scientific seminars in the mosques of the governorate under the title: “Pollution is its risks, images and inevitability of it”, within the activities of the constantly fixed platform between Al -Azhar and the Ministry of Endowments, which aims to raise the level of religious and environmental awareness, enhance Islamic values in preserving the environment, and confront contemporary challenges.
Seminars on pollution and a risk of Sohag endowments
His Eminence Dr. Muhammad Abu Saada, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf in Sohag, stressed that these seminars come at a time when the need to join efforts between all spectrums of society to confront the threat of pollution, which is no longer just an environmental issue, but has become a direct threat to human health and the stability of society.
The Undersecretary explained that pollution is a form of corruption in the land that Islam forbade, citing the words of God Almighty:
{And do not spoil the ground after repairing} [الأعراف: 56]And the Almighty said: {And if he takes over, he sought on the ground to spoil it and perish plowing and offspring, and God does not like corruption} [البقرة: 205].
He also pointed to the directives of the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, which urges the cleanliness of the environment and respect for public places, including his saying in his honorable speech: “Getting harm from the path is charity”, and warning him of polluting stagnant water, and other prophetic directives that confirm the attention of Islam in the environment.
These seminars in mosques came to emphasize the role of religious platforms in educating the masses about the seriousness of pollution and the need to prevent it, and to motivate citizens to participate effectively in protecting their environment, each in its field and location.
Seminars were concluded with recommendations that urge to continue to hold such targeted meetings, and to activate the societal partnership in protecting the environment, based on religious and national responsibility.
It is a serious step on the path of environmental awareness based on the tolerant teachings of Islam, confirming that the mosque is not only a place of worship, but a platform for science, reform, guidance and awareness of awareness.
