And recently spread through social media platforms a picture of the ten -pound paper currency, in which the old currency body appears with a modern release on January 20, 2025, which sparked widespread controversy among the users of these platforms, where many citizens asked whether this paper currency will be re -released again instead of the new plastic currency polymer.

After spreading the date of a modern release … the fact that the 10 pounds of paper return again instead of plastic

In this context, Dr. Ezz Hassanein, the economist, explained the truth about what was circulated regarding the return of the paper currency to the 10 pounds category, stressing that what was circulated is in fact related to the constant consumption of old stocks of the ten pounds category, which is part of the central bank’s strategy for currency renewal in the market.

In exclusive statements to Cairo 24, Hassanein added that the remaining twenty -pound stocks still exist, noting that the central bank follows the policy of replacing old currencies with a new one, where new groups of currencies are printed to maintain liquidity in the market and enhance the stability of local currency economically.

Plastic currencies offering

The Central Bank of Egypt decided to launch new 10 -pound currencies, and 20 pounds made of polymer, which were produced using the latest banknotes production lines in the new administrative capital, while emphasizing the non -cancellation of previous versions of the same category, and the continued handling of dealing with them along with the new currency without any change.

The new currency is distinguished as the first cash category to be offered in the Egyptian market, using advanced technologies that allow the blind and visible to distinguish them and learn about their value by touching prominent signs above the left of the banknote.

The offering of the new currency helps reduce the cost of printing the banknotes, especially the most trading groups, including the ten -pound polymer category that was previously put in the market, as it corresponds to the goals of the sustainable development program adopted by the state through Egypt’s Vision 2030.
