For his part, Burkina Faso, Minister of Security in Burkina Faso, announced that the security forces thwarted a plan that was aimed at overthrowing the existing authority, explaining that the defected soldiers in cooperation with terrorist groups were planning to launch an attack on the presidency of the state on April 16, 2025, in conjunction with coordinated attacks across the country.
The minister added in a television statement on the official channel “RTB”, saying: Their goal was to flood Burkina Faso in chaos in order to seize the ruling .. The coup attempt was thwarted thanks to the vigilance and reporting of the intelligence services at the appropriate time, as he put it.
According to the identical sources published by the Al -Arabiya channel, that extensive arrests included a number of army officers, security forces, officers and soldiers, and the soldiers took place in Burkina Faso during the past days.
It is noteworthy that this week, France International Radio revealed that two officers were dismissed as unit commanders, noting in a report that rumors of a failed military coup attempt involved in the exile.
