Since the outbreak of the war in Gaza in 2023, Pope Francis has been keen to follow up on the situation on a daily basis, as he was constantly communicating with the Catholic Church in the Strip, in an attempt to see difficult humanitarian conditions and call for the cessation of violence, and described what is going on in Gaza as a brutal war, stressing that the suffering of innocent people should stop.
However, this support did not pass unnoticed, as the Pope’s repeated positions in supporting the Palestinians angered a number of politicians and newspapers in Israel, as some Israeli parties launched media attacks on him, in protest against his statements and attitudes that they see as biased towards the Palestinians at the expense of the Israeli narration.

The Vatican announced on Monday evening the details of the death of Pope Francis, explaining that the cause of death was due to a stroke that led to his entry into a coma, followed by a failure of the blood circulation of the heart, and this news left a state of deep sadness around the world, as Pope Francis was seen as one of the most prominent symbols of peace and religious tolerance in the modern era.
According to the official death certificate signed by Professor Andrea Arkangeli, Director of the Health and Hygiene Department, the death was confirmed using electrical planning, which provided an accurate image of his health in his last moments, and highlighted the immediate cause of his departure.
