Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak bin Dinah, Minister of Oil and Environment, the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, stressed that the International Earth Day, which falls on April 22 of each year, is an occasion to enhance the culture of environmental sustainability among the various components of society, pointing out that the Kingdom of Bahrain led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and with the support and follow -up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, may God protect him Its national and international obligations related to environmental protection and combating climate change, in line with the sustainable development goals and the national action plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
The Minister of Oil and the Environment pointed out that the Supreme Council for the Environment headed by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the personal representative of His Majesty, the President of the Supreme Council for the Environment, attaches great importance to building an environmental cognitive base for Bahraini society in its various age categories, and is keen that environmental awareness is part of national policies through continuous campaigns, community initiatives, targeted and varied training programs and activities.
He continued that the environmental challenges faced by the world today, foremost of which is climate change and the loss of biological diversity, requires a real renewal of environmental awareness, starting from the family and institutions concerned in society, noting that sound environmental knowledge constitutes the first guarantee of any sustainable and effective transformation.
His Excellency the Minister of Oil and the Environment added that celebrating the International Earth Day aims to shed light on the importance of protecting the environment and shared responsibility that begins with awareness and knowledge, and ends with behavior and practice in order to ensure the sustainability of natural resources and innate life, and to preserve the vital diversity of the Kingdom of Bahrain to continue sustainable development and achieve the best for future generations.
