The Instagram application started a new mechanism test using artificial intelligence, to determine whether the application users are lying about their ages.
Special messages are restricted so that adolescents can only receive from the people who are already followed up by them.
Meta said that “sensitive content”, like videos of people who quarrel or those who promote cosmetic procedures will be limited.
Adolescents will also receive notifications if they are on Instagram for more than 60 minutes, and the “stillness mode” will be enabled that turns off the notifications and sends automatic responses to direct messages from 10 pm until 7 am.
Meta says she is training her artificial intelligence to search for signals, such as the type of content with which the account interacts, profile information and the time to create the account, to determine the owner’s life.
Strong procedures at a time when social media companies face increasing scrutiny on how their platform affects mental health and the luxury of younger users. An increasing number of states are also trying to pass the law verification laws, although they have faced judicial challenges.
Mita and other social media support placing the burden on application stores to verify ages amid criticism that they are not doing enough to make their products safe for children or check for no use of any children under the age of 13 years.
The company said that Instagram will also send notifications to parents “with information on how to hold talks with their teenage children about the importance of providing the right age online.”
