Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting with Major General Hussein Dahrouj, Executive Director of the Compensation Fund for the Risk of Medical Professions, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Al -Nahif, Head of the Central Investment Department and the Fund’s funds management, to discuss enhancing ways of support for medical teams, and in appreciation of their efforts in serving the health system.
Enhancing investment in human resources
The meeting comes within the framework of implementing the directions of the political leadership, by improving the work environment in the medical sector, enhancing investment in human resources, and enhancing the state’s efforts to support medical teams and improve the conditions of workers in the health sector.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the meeting dealt with following up the implementation of the cooperation protocol signed between the medical professions sector in the Ministry and the compensation fund for the risks of medical professions, which provides for the fund’s contribution to the costs of providing training programs for the fund members of the doctors and nursing staff working in the Ministry of Health, in addition to supporting the costs of recruiting Egyptian and foreign experts to provide specialized exercises for medical teams inside Egypt.
Abdel Ghaffar said that the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health directed to continue working on training and qualifying medical teams and providing workshops and training programs in various specialties outside Egypt, and he also directed that the fund bear the cost of postgraduate studies for human doctors, whether masters or doctorates, in the context of supporting Egyptian medical competencies and urging them to continue scientific and vocational development.
Abdel Ghaffar continued: The meeting also included discussing the mechanisms for implementing the items of the cooperation protocol signed last December between the Egyptian Health Council and the compensation fund for the risks of medical professions, which aims to support the doctors enrolled in training in the Egyptian board, where the minister directed in this regard that the fund bears the full costs of examination fees for doctors enrolled in training in the Egyptian board, in line with the protocol controls.
Abdel Ghaffar noted that the meeting discussed the possibility of the fund’s cooperation with the Ministry of Health in the project to raise the efficiency of doctors in some health units, in confirmation of the role of the state in caring for workers in the medical sector and creating the appropriate environment for them in a way that enhances their ability to provide distinguished health services to citizens.
Abdel Ghaffar indicated that during the meeting, the minister directed the speedy communication with Dr. Mahmoud Sami Qunebir, who lost his eyesight as a result of the tremendous pressures he was exposed to during the Korona pandemic, to work inside the box, in appreciation of his humanitarian and professional efforts during the pandemic.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the fund has since its establishment until now disbursed compensation amounting to 420 thousand pounds for cases of total and partial disability, while the value of compensation for deaths was about 70 million pounds, within the framework of the funded and moral support provided by the fund for workers in the medical sector.
Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar concluded the meeting by inviting members of the medical professions to register on the website of the Compensation Fund for the Risk of Medical Professions (www.mprcf.gov.eg), to identify the services provided by the fund and maximize their benefit.
