Lebanese President Joseph Aoun confirmed, on Sunday, that the issue of arms inventory will be implemented, explaining that he is waiting for the appropriate conditions to determine how to implement.
The Lebanese News Agency quoted Aoun as saying, after a meeting with the Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al -Ra’i on the Hezbollah weapon, that any controversial issue does not approach the media and means of communication, but rather in a way that communicates with those concerned in a calm and responsible way.
He added: “I have a conviction that the Lebanese do not want war and do not want to hear this, and therefore the Lebanese armed forces are the only one responsible for Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence.”
He continued: “Let us address the issue with a vision and responsibility, because it is a basic issue to preserve the civil peace, and I will bear it in cooperation with the government.”
He stressed that “any disagreement in the Lebanese interior is only close to the logic of my connection, and the inventory of weapons will be implemented, but we are waiting for the circumstances to determine how to implement.”
