The mayor of the Chinese city of Shinzen, Chen Wei Chung, stressed that his country seeks to enhance economic cooperation with Egypt in multiple areas that include new energy, digital economy, infrastructure, smart cities, tourism, and modern agriculture, stressing that the relations between Cairo and Shanezen are witnessing a new stage of openness and growth.
Chen pointed out that the volume of trade between Shinzen and Egypt increased significantly to 1.438 billion dollars last year, with a growth rate of 35.3%, which reflects the strength of bilateral economic relations between the two parties.

He added during his speech at the Forum of Commerce and Economic Cooperation between China (Shinzen) and Egypt (Cairo), which was held today, Sunday, with the participation of government officials and diplomats from both sides, including the Chinese ambassador to Cairo, heads of a number of economic bodies and officials Egyptian Chambers.
Chen said that the meeting comes within the framework of implementing the understandings reached by President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi and Shi Jinping during their meeting twice last year, in light of a joint trend towards building a “common destiny society” that enhances joint growth and integrated development.
He added: “We hope that this meeting will contribute to deepening the practical relations between Shinzen and Cairo, and supports the integration between the Belt and the Road and the vision of Egypt 2030, in a way that benefits the two peoples, and enhances sustainable long -term development.”
The Chinese official reviewed the economic achievements of the city of Chenezen, which he described as an “inspiring model” of rapid growth and economic transformation based on innovation and openness, noting that the city has turned in 45 years from a small village that lives in less than 30 thousand people to a major city inhabited by more than 20 million people, and today is a global center for technology and industry.

He revealed that the city’s gross domestic product amounted to about 5.17 trillion dollars in 2024, at a growth rate of 5.8%, to become the third largest local economy in China, and within the ten adults in the world, and research and development investments recorded a growth of 18.9%, equivalent to 6.5%of the GDP.
He continued: “Companies such as Huawei, Bayed, Tinsant, and Di Ji, originated in Shinzen, and have become global symbols of innovation, while the volume of foreign trade in the city exceeded 632 billion dollars in 2024, to occupy the first position among Chinese cities, and constitute approximately 10% of the country’s foreign trade.”
He emphasized that Egypt is an important partner for Chenezen in Africa and the Arab world, by virtue of its distinguished geographical location and its regional role, noting that the city is ready to support more Chinese companies to invest in the Egyptian market, at a time when it welcomes the increase in Egyptian investments in Shinzen, which contributes to creating an integrated partnership model that serves the interests of the two countries.
