A medical team in the ENT department at the main hospital, Assiut, succeeded in saving the life of a child from certain death, as a result of suffering severe bleeding and serious complications a week after undergoing the removal of tonsils in a medical center.

This came under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ahmed Al -Minshawi, President of the University, Prof. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, and Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Aziz, Director of the Main University Hospital, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Rushdi, Head of the Ear, Ear and Throat Department.
The main hospital had received a 8 -year -old child in a complete coma as a result of severe bleeding, and immediately, he was transferred to intensive care, where he underwent urgent blood transfusion and accurate follow -up of vital signs, and given the continuation of bleeding and the possibility of suffocation, Dr. Rania Tharwat, an ear and ear specialist, and doctor Sherine Ahmed, a resident doctor in the department, performed a pool and the installation of a tube. To secure the airway.
After that, the medical team conducted a cross -patent on the neck, to show the presence of a large artery expansion in the main artery feeding the tonsils, resulting from congenital deformation of the arteries, and the medical team made an attempt to inject the expanding artery through the interventional rays, but the large volume of expansion prevented the completion of the injection completely in order to avoid the occurrence of complications on the brain.
As the bleeding continued and the child’s condition deteriorated, Professor Dr. Muhammad Muddathir Abu Shanif performed a delicate exploration of the neck, during which the external carotid artery feeding the arterial expansion was linked, which led to the stopping of the bleeding, and the child gradually regained his consciousness, and his condition stabilizes until he recovered, and he was released from the hospital in good health.
