The American company “Eli Lily”, a leader in the pharmaceutical industry, has announced the results of its clinical trials on a new drug called “Orforgenone”, which may make a shift in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, especially those who suffer from weight gain, according to UPI.
Revealing a new drug for type 2 diabetes
In an official statement, David Rex, CEO of the company, said, we are happy with the results achieved by the new Innin Class, as it showed a noticeable effectiveness in controlling blood glucose levels and helping to lose weight, as well as enjoying a good level of safety and endurance.
The “Orforgenone” is the first drug to be taken orally once a day in this category, which makes it an easy -to -use option, and it may be offered widely after it is officially approved.
The results of the clinical trials of the new drug
The property showed a decrease between 1.3% and 1.6% at A1C levels, compared to basic levels of 8%, which is high in diabetics.
About 66%of the participants who took the highest dose of 36 mg, recorded the A1C levels less than 6.5%, which is the rate determined by the American Diabetes Association to control the disease, and the participants lost the equivalent of 16 pounds of weight (about 8%) on average, which reflects the positive effect of the drug in weight reduction.
Although the property has proven effective, some minor side effects were recorded, most notably digestive problems such as nausea and vomiting, but it was often at light to medium levels.
Towards easier and more effective treatment
Researchers at “Eli Lily” intend to present the results of these experiments during the eighty -fifth annual conference of the American Diabetes Association, while looking to publish the study in prestigious medical patrols.
In the event of organizational approval, it is expected that the new property will be available in the market by 2026, to be a comfortable alternative to the traditional injections that patients are accustomed to, which makes a qualitative shift in treatment methods.
