Ahmed bin Salman Al -Muslim, Speaker of the House of Representatives, discussed with his Turkish counterpart, Professor Numan Kortulmush, ways to activate the mechanisms of parliamentary diplomacy in support of the Palestinian issue, before the first meeting of the heads of the friendly parliaments of Palestine in Istanbul, in the presence of Bassam Ahmed Marzouk, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of Turkey, and the accompanying parliamentary delegation.
During the meeting, the position of the Republic of Turkey in support of the Palestinian cause, stressing the firm and firm position of the Kingdom of Bahrain in supporting the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, in establishing an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the two -state solution, the Arab peace initiative and the relevant international legitimacy decisions, and the importance of uniting efforts to stop and avoid violence that threatens security and regional stability.
And he pointed to the necessity of adopting a plan for parliamentary action in support of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on its land, based on the outputs of the 150th General Assembly of the International Parliamentary Union, which was recently held in the Republic of Uzbekistan, which for the first time adopted a draft resolution, and with the compatibility of all geopolitical groups, entitled: “The role of parliaments in moving forward with a two -state solution in the State of Palestine.”
In the same context, he reviewed a number of proposals submitted by the House of Representatives on the draft “Istanbul Declaration” in which the meeting will come out, including supporting what was stated in the announcement of the Bahrain Summit and the emergency Arab summit, held in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, last March, in addition to supporting the Gaza rebuilding plan.
For his part, the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament expressed his appreciation for the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain in support of the Palestinian cause. Stressing that the situation in Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip, requires solidarity and solidarity from parliamentarians in order to come up with tangible results.
