A new development in relations between Russia and the Taliban movement, which rules Afghanistan by removing it from the list of terrorist organizations.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court of Russia announced that it had approved the removal of the Taliban from its list of terrorist organizations, a symbolic action aimed at strengthening relations between Moscow and Kabul isolated on the international scene.
Russian news agencies quoted the assignment judge as saying after a closed session that “the decision comes into effect immediately.” But this decision does not constitute an official recognition of the Taliban government by Moscow at this stage.
