The case started as a result of a dispute between the player and one of his neighbors in the city of Sinbillawain in Dakahlia Governorate, where the conflict developed into an altercation through social media platforms, during which the two parties exchanged expressions of insults and slander.
Initially, the case was referred to the Sinbillawain Misdemeanor Court, but the court decided not to compete in the case, and referred it to the Economic Court in Mansoura as the authority to consider electronic crimes.
The Economic Court will consider the case after it became its competence, amid anticipation in sports and popular circles for the coming sessions. The issue has sparked widespread attention due to Imam Ashour’s sporting personality, and is one of the issues that highlight the impact of social media on the personal life of individuals.
