The Iranian judiciary spokesman, Asghar Jahangir, announced on Wednesday, the death sentence against the young Iranian rapper, Amir Hussein Massoudou, known as “Amir Tahlo”, on charges of assaulting sanctities.
Jahangir said in a press statement, “The death sentence was issued against Amir recited on charges of insulting the Holy Sesale and the Prophet, and that the ruling is still in the appeal stage in the Iranian Supreme Court, and it cannot be considered permanently until the final decision is issued.”
Jahangir indicated that Misquho was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison for “encouraging corruption”, as he is serving his sentence in Tehran prison.
He added that the Supreme Court had overturned a previous sentence to imprison him 5 years on charges of “infringing on the sanctities”, so that the case is referred again to the Supreme Court, which issued the death sentence after the charges against him were proven, according to Article 262 of the Islamic Penal Code, and stipulates the execution in the event of offending the Holy Prophet.
Moreover, some media outlets have published reports indicating that the artist had sent a message from inside the prison, as he mentioned in his message that he is awaiting the execution of the death sentence at any time, calling on his followers to settle their debts with his family in the event of the execution of the ruling against him.
It is noteworthy that the issue has sparked widespread controversy in Iran, amid human rights calls to stop the implementation of judgments against artists and thinkers, because of their expression of their opinions or artistic activities.
